On 14 and 15 October 2019, INTEROPen joined forces with facilitator teams from NHS X and NHS Digital to host a hackathon. The event was held at ODI Leeds and attended by 125 delegates from across the INTEROPen community, including members from 29 different vendor organisations. It was facilitated by specialists from NHS Digital, NHSX and Airelogic.
This FREE* hackathon will bring together developers wishing to devise, test and develop solutions to connect systems and deliver better care.
This connectathon is being held to accelerate the development of key areas of the Share2Care programme, using new and emerging technologies and standards, such as CareConnect API’s, GP Connect and NHS login. We also want to showcase the combined use of FHIR and XDS as a true testament and display of the power of Open Standards.
This FREE* event will provide an opportunity for members of the INTEROPen community to learn from the recent successes of the One London LHCRE and help ‘hack’ towards resolving outstanding challenges facing this and other LCHRE areas – testing the scalability of solutions that will connect care providers across health and social care.
On the day of the hackathon, examples will be given for solutions to each of the three challenges:
– The connection of primary medication and allergies data from the primary care systems and into Coordinate My Care.
– The bidirectional sharing of information from PHR
– The interconnectivity of the National Record Locator
Hackathon participants will have the day to ‘hack’ and solve both architectural and technological connectivity hurdles, with the opportunity to produce first of type connections that we will seek to scale for the pan-London LHCRE programme, and to enable connectivity with two other LHCREs; Greater Manchester, and Yorkshire and Humberside.
We will be using CareConnect FHIR resources curated by the INTEROPen community. These resources make it possible for us to further standardise and share data through APIs, which will support this development and deployment. London Chief Clinical Information Officers will be on hand to help vendors to sense-check examples for real-world use.
In keeping with INTEROPen values, vendors from across the community are invited to attend both planning WebExes and the hackathon event. Information will be shared through these WebExes and on the Ryver collaboration platform to set out the scope and agenda for the hackathon, and to provide participants with the information to commence their architectural plans.
